3 Reasons Why You Should Take A Road Trip This Fall

The American road trip—it’s part of our culture, yet many of us haven’t had the chance to enjoy one. With high gas prices, many feel they just don’t have the money to try a road trip vacation. Well, gas prices have fallen a bit this year, so why not take advantage of this and grab your keys and go?

3 Reasons Why Everyone Should Take A Road Trip

One reason people hesitate to go on a road trip is the idea that it’s more complicated than traveling by plane. Actually, packing the car and taking off is easier and less stressful than waiting in crowded airports while fearing flight delays or cancelations.

A road trip can be a very relaxing way to enjoy your vacation time. Here are three reasons why we think everyone should try one:

  • You get to take your time. Traveling by plane or train might get you somewhere faster, but you don’t get to stop whenever you want and enjoy yourself. When you’re in control of your own vehicle, you can stop at will, which is great because who knows what the road ahead will bring, especially in the White Mountains. If you’re traveling a more scenic route, you may want to get out and have a picnic on a beautiful patch of grass along a lake’s glistening waters. Or, if you’re taking a drive through a quaint New England town, there are all kinds of shops and restaurants to stop and explore. On a road trip, you get to take your time and do exactly what you want to do.

  • There’s nothing quite like the feeling of the open road. There’s just something about getting behind the wheel of a car and enjoying the feel of the open road. Have you noticed the number of movies whose theme revolves around the excitement of a road trip? Part of the appeal is the feeling of freedom it brings about, something you can’t get being cooped up on a plane or bus.

  • Thoroughly enjoy those in your car. Going on a road trip with family or friends is a definite bonding experience. The time that passes allows for open conversation, fun sing-alongs and traveling games. Plus, how often do you get to pull over along the side of the road and enjoy the beautiful scenery with your loved ones? Usually we’re too busy getting from point A to point B to be able to do that.
